| A31/255 Josef Čapek (1887 – 1945) Pilgrimer, 1934. Oil on canvas, 59 x 36 cm, bottom right conrner signed „34. Čapek“. Framed, condition A. Painting comes from Čapek’s matured period when author stylized himself into the figure of an old, limping pilgrimer wandering thought the world. Painting is clear of all redundunt things and leaves only the characteristic swift brush strokes. Painting was present at the ě Josef Čapek that took place in Riding-hall of Prague’s castle in 7. 10. 2009 – 17. 1. 2010 and in Východočeska galery in Pardubice in 3. 3. 2010 – 30. 5. 2010. Catalogue no. 130 with the title Spěchající muž (Hurrying man), 1934. We are honoring the original title Poutník (Pilgrimer), which was shown in the Halas collection of esseys Obrazy (Paintings), published by Československy spisovatel in Prague in v 1968.
